The CRIOSAFE® HPPS – High Pressure Pump Shutdown Device – is a PED certified safety accessory to protect pressurised systems and equipment that use compressed gases, up to 330 bar g, obtained by pumping and vaporising theire liquid phase with a storage temperature < -29°C. The device protects such equipment against exceeding their minimum allowable temperature and maximum allowable pressure limits.

Specifically included among concerned equipment are filling stations of cylinders and bundles with compressed gases having finale pressures up to 300 barg (nominal).

MAIN FEATURES

The CRIOSAFE® HPPS device constantly controls, through a flowing cell and a monitoring and alarm logic, the temperature and pressure of the gas flowing downstream. If one of the alarm thresholds is reached, the Criosafe logic intervenes by shutting down the cryogenic pump and transmitting the alarm event to an electrical contact for transmission to remote locations and other relevant process systems.

The flow cell is also equipped with a redundant safety device, consisting of a pressure relief safety valve, which is also certified as a safety accessory in compliance with Cat. IV of the PED Directive.

Optional equipment includes a pneumatically actuated shut-off valve, single-acting NC (normally closed) type, with diameter DN12 or DN15.

COMPLIANCE

The CRIOSAFE® HPPS device complies with Cat. IV of Directive 2014/68/EU (PED) and classified as a safety accessory in accordance with the requirements of reference EIGA – European Industrial Gases Association – Doc 133/14 – “Cryogenic Vaporisation Systems – Prevention of Brittle Fracture of Equipment and Piping.”

Publication to be understood as harmonized for global use by all members of AIGA (Asia Industrial Gases Association), CGA (Compressed Gases Association), EIGA, JIMGA (Japan Industrial and Medical Gases Association).
